The Akan Constituency of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened the Notice of Polls for its upcoming Polling Station Executives elections, paving the way for aspirants to confirm their filed positions and prepare for the process.
The elections are scheduled to take place from May 10 to May 16, 2026, across all 116 polling stations in the constituency.
Mr Merigah Abdul Sataru, Akan Constituency Secretary of the NPP, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi in the Oti Region.
He said the Election Committee had begun distributing and posting notices at designated polling stations to ensure aspirants and party members are duly informed.
According to him, the committee will tour all polling stations to paste the notices and serve copies directly to aspirants in line with the party's electoral guidelines.
Mr Sataru added that the committee would also use social media platforms to widen access to information and keep stakeholders updated throughout the electoral period.
He commended aspirants and party faithful for their cooperation during the nomination process, noting that no petitions or appeals were recorded within the stipulated window.
“This reflects unity and discipline within the constituency,” he said.
He urged members to participate actively by turning out in their numbers to vote, stressing that a peaceful and transparent process would strengthen the party's grassroots structures ahead of future political activities.
The Polling Station Executives elections form a key part of the NPP's internal democratic processes aimed at reorganising and energising the party at the grassroots level.
