A 19-year-old Senior High School student, identified as Nii Lamptey, has reportedly been shot during a police operation at Danchira amid tensions surrounding a demolition exercise on a disputed 700-acre parcel of land.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when a group of agitated residents allegedly attacked the local police station in protest against the demolition. Police officers were said to have responded by firing warning shots in an attempt to disperse the crowd. During the confrontation, Nii Lamptey was struck by a stray bullet.
The teenager sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition has not yet been officially disclosed.
Further updates are expected as police and local authorities provide more details on both the demolition exercise and the shooting incident.
