The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, on Monday presented 3,000 mathematical sets to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in Accra during a monitoring tour of selected exam centres, urging them to stay confident and disciplined.

The presentation was made as part of a joint visit with Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey, officials of the Ghana Education Service, and Queen Mothers.

Speaking to the candidates, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said the donation was to encourage them and ease their burden during the ongoing exams.

He described the BECE as a necessary stage in their academic journey and reminded them that with the right support, any of them could become President of Ghana in the future.

“You must believe in yourselves, avoid panic, and rely on what you have been taught,” he told the candidates. “The whole of Ga State, the Regional Minister, the Mayor, chiefs, queen mothers, and education officials are supporting you and praying for your success.”

The Ga Mantse called on parents to provide emotional support to candidates, noting that encouragement is key to good performance.

He also commended the education directorate, teachers, supervisors, and invigilators for ensuring a smooth start, with papers beginning on time at the centres visited.

Regional Minister Ocloo said candidates in the region were prepared and ready to make their parents and the country proud. She noted that all logistics for the examination had been provided and that concerns raised by parents and candidates were addressed through preparations that began about three months earlier.

Mayor Allotey also advised candidates not to rely on leaked questions, popularly known as “apor,” but to write honestly and apply what they had learned.

He also revealed plans to improve the teaching of the Ga language in schools within the metropolis.

He said the Assembly had engaged Ga youth who studied the language and are willing to help teach children.
