A group of aggrieved members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency of the Western Region has filed an application at the High Court seeking to halt ongoing internal electoral processes.
The plaintiffs are requesting an interlocutory injunction to stop all activities leading to the conduct of polling station elections, including the ongoing vetting of candidates.
The applicants, Sam Nathaniel Andoh, Samuel Kwaw Blay, Musah Abdulai, Charlotte Ghansah, Francis Ntsiful, Eric Bonney, Juliana Eshun and Memunatu Abubakar Saddick, contend that the processes being undertaken are flawed and inconsistent with the party’s internal guidelines.
In their motion, they are asking the court to restrain key party officials from proceeding with any election-related activities. The officials named include the Western Regional Chairman, Francis Ndede Siah, the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency Chairman, Benjamin Assabill, the Constituency Secretary, Fuseini Amadu, and the Regional Representative, Anthony Aidoo.
They are also seeking an order to bar the conduct of polling station elections and all related processes in the constituency until the case is determined.
According to the applicants, the current preparations are being carried out in a manner they consider unfair and allegedly manipulated to favour certain individuals, raising concerns about internal party democracy.
The legal action has created uncertainty over the timeline for the constituency’s internal elections, as tensions within the party continue to rise.
