A disturbing incident has unfolded at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where a security guard allegedly seized and dumped a kenkey vendor’s food into a dustbin after the seller reportedly defied orders to stop selling within the facility.
According to eyewitness accounts, the vendor whose identity is yet to be confirmed was going about her usual business on the hospital premises when she was confronted by the security officer. The guard is said to have instructed her to vacate the area, citing hospital regulations that prohibit unauthorized trading within the facility.
However, tensions escalated when the woman allegedly failed to comply with the directive. In a move that has since sparked outrage among bystanders, the security guard reportedly grabbed her container of kenkey and emptied its contents into a nearby dustbin.
Witnesses described the scene as both shocking and distressing, with some accusing the guard of using excessive force and showing a lack of compassion, especially considering the economic struggles faced by many informal traders.
Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is yet to issue an official statement on the matter. It remains unclear whether any disciplinary action will be taken against the security officer involved.
