Leader of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Janet Asana Nabla, has said Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, does not deserve to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Her comment follows increasing concerns over the team’s recent performance, particularly after defeats to Austria and Germany in international friendly matches.
Some critics have argued that the team’s current form raises serious questions about its competitiveness on the global stage.
Speaking on Accra-based JoyPrime on Tuesday, March 31, Nabla stated that the Black Stars are not in shape to compete at the highest level.
“The Ghanaian team is not fit to be able to go for this 2026 World Cup. We are not fit,” she said.
She further argued that participating in the tournament under the current circumstances would amount to a waste of national resources.
The former presidential candidate suggested that Ghana should rather allow a more competitive African side to take its place.
“We are going to misuse money to give to Black Stars that we know they are not fit… so the best and honourable thing we can do is to look at the African countries… and give it to another,” she stated.
