
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 40-year-old man, identified as Samuel Bills Acquah, for allegedly assaulting a woman in Cape Coast.
According to an official press release from the Central Regional Police Command, the arrest follows a viral video that captured the alleged incident, sparking public concern and prompting swift police action.
The police disclosed that the incident was reported on March 27, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m. The suspect is accused of assaulting a 30-year-old woman, believed to be the mother of his child, at Bakano, a suburb of Cape Coast.
Upon receiving the report, officers quickly proceeded to the scene and effected the arrest of the suspect. He is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
Authorities have confirmed that Samuel Bills Acquah is expected to be arraigned before court on March 30, 2026, where he will face prosecution for the alleged offense.
The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and have urged the public to report incidents of abuse and violence promptly.
The case has reignited conversations around domestic violence in Ghana, with many calling for stricter enforcement of laws to protect victims and deter offenders.
