Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of Naval Staff, has expressed appreciation to GOIL for the continued support to the Ghana Navy.

GOIL serves as a key supplier of Marine Gas Oil (MGO) to various vessels and facilities, including those operated by the Ghana Navy.

GOIL currently operates three Marine Gas Oil (MGO) storage tanks at the Sekondi Naval Command, with a combined capacity of 3,850 cubic metres.

Rear Admiral Bessing made the commendation during a courtesy call on the GOIL Group Chief Executive Officer, who doubles as the Managing Director, Mr Edward Abambire Bawa.

The two discussed ways to strengthen the collaboration between GOIL and the Ghana Navy.

The Chief of Naval Staff was accompanied by Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, Chief Staff Officer; Captain (GN) Salifu, Director, Procurement and Contract Management; Captain (GN) Asio-Tchum, Director, Supply Division; Captain (GN) Kpesenu, Deputy Chief Staff Officer Logistics; and Lt. (GN) Stephen Jnr Ahenkorah-Owusu, Flag Lieutenant to CNS.

GOIL Management, led by the Group CEO, Mr Bawa, also includes the Chief Operating Officer, Dr Marcus Deo Dake, and the Technical Advisor to the Group CEO and MD, Mr Mark Ofori-Amanfo.

Mr Bawa explained that the core values of the company are represented with the acronym G-O-I-L. G stands for Good, O stands for Originality, I for Integrity and L represents Leadership.

He said GOIL prides itself on the good and quality products and services it provides, its originality and commitment to being a Ghanaian brand, its credibility in maintaining integrity, and its growth and years of industry leadership.

Mr Bawa noted that GOIL has three subsidiaries: GOEnergy Limited, a Bulk Distribution Company (BDC); GOIL Upstream Limited to cater for its offshore business; and GOBitumen Limited, a joint venture bitumen production and distribution company.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Modern Ghana News, Mr Bawa reiterated that the rejuvenated GOIL management team and staff, backed by a progressive board of directors, have restored confidence in the GOIL PLC brand.

He said GOIL has resumed its leading role in the oil marketing field, “The rejuvenated management team has changed the GOIL story again... we have assumed our role as the leading oil marketing company in the country.”

He said the rejuvenated management team has set a pragmatic target of restoring the image of the company among the public. “We have embarked on an ambitious plan to renovate and rehabilitate our 200 GOIL service stations across the country with an environmentally friendly courtyard and fit them with other services to make customers comfortable.

“As the foremost indigenous Ghanaian OMC, the rejuvenated GOIL management team and Board of Directors are proud of its turnaround achievements within six months. We are the country's OMC standard bearer,” he said.

The GOIL Group CEO maintained that “in the heat of the petroleum product price war, GOIL will not sacrifice health and safety standards as well as the quality of our products. GOIL means business, and we have taken a significant step in maintaining sanctity in the downstream petroleum sector.”

Mr Bawa assured stakeholders, including dealers, transporters, the consuming public, shareholders, and the government, that the future looks bright, as the rejuvenated management team has taken giant steps through prudent and viable projections.

“We believe that with the continued support of Ghanaians through the use of their purchasing power, GOIL will continue to grow to become a successful multinational oil company,” the MD stated.

He said, despite the stiff competition in the downstream petroleum sector, GOIL is blazing the trail because of some strategic decisions: “It is a very difficult terrain.

“We have a clear agenda that the board, management, and every staff member of GOIL have bought into. We are pursuing it, and I believe that we are on the right path,” he said.

Mr Bawa appealed to Ghanaians to continue to purchase GOIL products so as to grow the economy and create jobs for Ghanaians.
