The Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council (NPC), Dr. George Amoh, has urged all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring sustainable peace in the country, emphasising that conflict prevention is a shared responsibility.
He made this statement during a lecture at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College on Wednesday in Accra.
Speaking on the topic: Conflict Prevention, Management, and Resolution, he addressed students of the 2025 Conflict and Crises Management Course for Senior Command and Staff Course 46.
Dr. Amoh provided a comprehensive overview of conflict, discussing its various concepts, sources, and the essence of peace.
He referenced prominent scholars, including Johan Galtung and R.J. Rummel, to illustrate differing definitions of conflict.
He also distinguished between latent and manifest causes of conflict, highlighting the pursuit of power as a significant driving force behind many conflicts.
Dr. Amoh noted the importance of collaborative conflict resolution, particularly through dialogue, describing it as a key strategy in managing and resolving disputes.
“This approach fosters shared understanding and facilitates the achievement of agreeable solutions,” he added.
