The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has inaugurated an 11-member Board for the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP) held last week in Accra.

The ceremony underscored the nation’s deepening commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive, and innovative economy with a robust framework to harness the potential of young people in terms of innovation and entrepreneurial development.

Addressing the board, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Mr. George Opare Addo, said the formation of the board was to provide strategic direction, guidance, and offer valuable insights into the development of youth across the entire country.

He noted that the NEIP has been a pivotal force in stimulating entrepreneurship across Ghana’s economic landscape.

He added that through initiatives such as funding start-ups, supporting business incubation, and offering capacity-building programs, NEIP continues to empower aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs, particularly the youth and women, adding that one of its flagship initiatives, Adwumawura, stands out as a key program driving sustainable job creation and inclusive economic growth.

The Minister indicated that the board is charged with shaping policies that remove barriers for entrepreneurs, designing a robust legal framework that protects innovation, and ensuring financial instruments are tailored to the unique needs of startups and small businesses.

Mr. Opare Addo administered the oath of office and the oath of secrecy to the members and charged them to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the youth through their wealth of experience and expertise.

The Chairman of the board, Mr. Owusu Nkrumah Ababio, on behalf of the members, expressed his appreciation to the government for reposing confidence in them and indicated their determination to ensure the ideas, talents, and efforts of the youth will be put to fruitful use.

Members of the board include Mr. Eric Adjei, Dr. Crispin Wienna, Ewurabena Aubynn, Elizabeth Ofosu Mensah, Dickson Kyere-Duah (MP), Katherine Oduro, Dr. Beatrice Tsotso Adom, Erick Tsiri, Nana Yaw Appiah-Kubi, and Isaac Kofi Kportsu.
