TVET Certificate II exams to begin nationwide from June 30 – Zakaria Suleman confirms

The Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Mr. Zakaria Suleman, has announced the official schedule for the 2025 Certificate II Examinations, which will take place across Ghana from Monday, June 30 to Sunday, July 28, 2025.

A total of 55,295 candidates are expected to participate in this year’s exams, comprising 40,339 males and 14,956 females. The exams will commence with the Core Subjects from June 30 to July 7, followed by the Elective Subjects from July 14 to July 28.

Mr. Suleman described the upcoming examinations as a reflection of Ghana’s growing investment in technical and vocational education, stressing the rising confidence of students and parents in the TVET system as a credible path to both academic advancement and employment.

“These numbers represent not only the scale of our national commitment to skills development, but also the increasing trust that Ghanaian youth and their families are placing in the TVET system as a viable and dignified pathway for education and employment,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of the Certificate II Examinations as a key benchmark in the national effort to produce a skilled, competent, and confident workforce, adding, “This annual event is not merely a procedural requirement. It is a national milestone, reflecting our collective progress in building a competent, skilled, and confident workforce through Technical and Vocational Education and Training.”

The Director General also took the opportunity to commend the thousands of students preparing for the exams, noting that reaching this stage of their academic and professional journey is a commendable achievement. He further extended appreciation to instructors, school administrators, parents, and industry stakeholders for their tireless efforts in preparing and guiding the candidates.

“TVET is a collaborative effort, and the gains we are witnessing today are the result of shared responsibility and sustained investment in human capital development,” he said.

Speaking on the integrity and quality of the forthcoming exams, Mr. Suleman assured the public of CTVET’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in examination administration.

“We understand that the credibility of these assessments is integral to the reputation of our graduates and the TVET system as a whole,” he explained.

Mr. Suleman further revealed that innovative reforms have been implemented to enhance fairness and security in the examination process.

According to him, these measures are aimed at minimizing the risk of examination malpractice, including the distribution of leaked papers popularly referred to as “apor”, and the influence of social media scammers who circulate fake materials.

The new measures, he said, will safeguard the validity of the examination scores across various versions of the papers administered. This ensures that every candidate regardless of the specific version of the test they take, receives a certificate of equal credibility and value.
