The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in Parliament has vowed to use its newfound majority status to protect the interests of Ghanaians.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, October 20, the NDC’s Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, declared that the caucus is fully committed to reversing policies that have caused hardships under the current administration.

Ato Forson emphasized that with the NDC now holding a majority of 136 seats in Parliament, the party will take immediate steps to alleviate the burden on Ghanaians.

“The opportune time has come and we are determined to immediately commence the process of reversing the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia mess and put our country back on track,” Ato Forson asserted.

The shift in parliamentary dynamics follows Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant after the affected MPs switched party allegiance.

This change, according to Ato Forson, effectively reconfigures the 8th Parliament, granting the NDC a majority and reducing the NPP’s count to 135 MPs.

Forson assured Ghanaians that the NDC would use its new parliamentary majority to introduce private member bills that would remove unpopular taxes, including the e-Levy and betting tax.

“We will use our new majority numbers to benefit Ghanaians by introducing private members bills to remove the e-Levy to reduce the suffering of the people,” he said, adding, “We will also use our new majority to remove the betting tax and other nuisance taxes.”

Protecting who's interest? Hypocrites. Protecting your votes instead. Nation wreckers! A viable opposition would have turned Ghana into a paradise. You guys have messed up the country. A female prisons officer was seriously lamenting that they have always expected the NDC to put things right in Ghana prisons. And she's right!!

Democracy must not be goods we import
