Three months after the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Germany has frozen €143 million ($153 million) of Russian assets from oligarchs and other individuals, targeted by EU sanctions.
This is up from €342,000 at the end of February, briefly after the war began, according to data from the Finance Ministry.
On May 23, a total of €142,990,409.35 in Russian assets was frozen, according to the ministry, based on an EU directive which had already been issued in 2014, when Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula.
