Very often, Ghanaian filmmakers blame the poor quality of Ghanaian movies on the unavailability of good locations for shooting. With tonnes of filmmakers looking for locations in major cities like Accra and Kumasi, there seems to be a clog when it comes to choosing locations for movies, and the few willing property owners have to release their facilities amongst several producers.
Writer/producer/director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso has discovered the amazing locations in Tarkoradi, where she shot her upcoming movie, 'The Perfect Picture'. “I have to say that we were very fortunate to have the locations did we had. We shot mostly in Takoradi and what I realised Takoradi people are more willing to give locations out unlike Accra, “says Shirley.
Although the locations in the movie is an integral part of its picture quality, the success of most of Shirley's movies lie in the storyline and attention to quality; The Perfect Picture isn't any different. “It took a lot of work, and the script went through a lot of processes. We wanted to make a light and funny movie and I do have the tenancy of being quite serious and real so I needed people to guide me in making the script more fun, and Chris Attoh helped me in that direction”.
Shirley also confesses that The Perfect Picture was meant to be a Valentine's Day release but couldn't make the time.
