Family of Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, has confirmed that he died from complications linked to advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
In a statement shared on his Instagram, the family said the actor died at Evercare Hospital after battling the illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the statement said.
The family said Alexx remained strong and hopeful throughout his illness.
“Throughout this difficult journey, he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope,” they added.
They also asked for privacy and prayers as they mourn him.
“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul,” the statement read.
The family said funeral arrangements would be announced later.
Alexx Ekubo was a popular Nollywood actor known for starring in several movies and television productions.
In related news, comedian AY reportedly said he was at the hospital during Alex's final hours and described the late actor as calm and smiling even at the point of death.
“I was there. I saw you still smiling even in death. I saw the tears from friends and family. And honestly, a part of me is still in shock. Rest well my brother. You will be remembered beyond the lights, the cameras, and the fame,” AY reportedly wrote.
