Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has suggested that the early injury to defender Marvin Senaya disrupted Ghana’s structure in their 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32.

Senaya was forced off in the opening stages of the first half and replaced by Alidu Seidu, who needed time to settle into the contest.

Colombia soon capitalised on the defensive adjustment, with Jhon Arias finding the decisive goal moments later.

The South Americans held on to secure a place in the last 16, where they will meet Switzerland.

Reflecting on the match, Queiroz said Ghana lost its organisation following the enforced change.

“The moment Senaya came off, the team did not have the same discipline and organisation. It took Alidu Seidu a few minutes to adjust, and they took advantage of that moment to score,” the Portuguese trainer said.

The defeat ends Ghana’s World Cup campaign at the knockout stage, marking their first appearance in the round of 32 since their run to the quarter-finals in 2010.

The Black Stars had advanced from Group L in third place before exiting at the first knockout hurdle.
