Ghana's Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, paid a morale-boosting visit to the Black Stars at their team hotel in Toronto on Tuesday as the national team prepares for its opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Panama.
The Black Stars arrived in Toronto earlier in the day from Rhode Island, where they had been holding their final preparations ahead of the Group L encounter.
The Vice President was accompanied by a distinguished delegation that included Justice Baffoe Bonnie, Ghana's High Commissioner to Canada, Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, and Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Speaking to the players and technical team, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang delivered a message of encouragement on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana, urging the squad to approach the tournament with unity, discipline and determination.
"The entire nation is behind you. Go out there and make Ghana proud," she told the team.
The visit comes as Ghana intensifies preparations for Wednesday's crucial opener against Panama at BMO Field, with kick-off scheduled for 23:00 GMT.
The Black Stars will then take on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before concluding their Group L campaign against Croatia on June 27.
Ghana will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage and reach the knockout rounds of the World Cup for the first time since their memorable run at the 2010 tournament.
