Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has declared that the Black Stars will approach the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the ambition of playing attractive football and winning every match as they seek to make the nation proud on the global stage.
The Black Stars arrived at their training base in Rhode Island on Thursday ahead of their opening Group L fixture against Panama, which will be played in Toronto on June 17.
Ghana heads into the tournament amid concerns over form, having failed to win any of their six preparatory matches, recording five defeats and one draw.
Despite the disappointing run, Queiroz remains optimistic about his team's prospects and insists the players are determined to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
Speaking to FIFA after the team's arrival in the United States, the 73-year-old outlined his ambitions for the tournament.
“Our expectation is to go out, play the best football and win every single game. We carry the hopes and dreams of millions of people on our shoulders, and we want to make them proud,” he said.
Following their opening clash against Panama, Ghana will take on England at Gillette Stadium in Boston on June 23 before rounding off their group-stage campaign against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.
The four-time African champions are hoping to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since their historic run in 2010. Ghana suffered group-stage exits at the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar and will be eager to end that streak in North America.
