The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has expressed strong confidence in Carlos Queiroz, insisting the experienced Portuguese tactician is capable of guiding the Black Stars to a successful campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars are targeting a return to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010, having fallen at the group phase in both 2014 and 2022.
Drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, Ghana will face a stern test in their bid to progress beyond the group stage.
Queiroz’s side recently tested their readiness with a 1-1 draw against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium as part of their preparations for the tournament.
Speaking to DW TV, Asante Twum praised the former Real Madrid and Portugal coach’s pedigree and experience, backing him to make a positive impact.
"In the business of football, there are divergent views, and Carlos Queiroz has coached some of the best talents that football can boast of," he said.
"We are solidly behind him, and he has the impetus to take us to the World Cup and make our nation proud," Asante Twum added.
Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.
Under Queiroz, the Black Stars will be aiming to rewrite recent history and finally break their group-stage exit streak on the world stage.
