Spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2028 flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has criticised President John Dramani Mahama over the country's recurring flooding challenges.

Several parts of the country experience flooding during the rainy season, leaving many people dead, displacing families and destroying properties.

The situation recurs almost every year, particularly in urban centres, whenever heavy rains occur.

According to Miracles Aboagye, President Mahama, while in opposition, consistently blamed the Akufo-Addo administration for failing to tackle flooding and projected himself as someone who understood the solutions to the problem.

"Have you seen the president's statement when he was in opposition? In fact, he blamed the government. He said it was the president of the country's responsibility to deal with flooding. It's on his Facebook wall," he said while speaking on Accra-based JoyNews' AM Show on Monday, June 8.

Miracles Aboagye further accused the Mahama administration of failing to provide a clear roadmap despite setting up an anti-flood committee shortly after assuming office.

He recalled that government officials toured flood-prone areas in Accra and publicised the exercise, raising expectations that concrete measures would soon be announced.

The NPP communicator stressed that while flooding in Accra is a long-standing challenge that cannot be solved immediately, government must demonstrate progress and communicate its strategy to the public.

"By now that committee that you flaunted in our faces would have addressed the country with a plan. Take us seriously. I am not saying that overnight you can wake up and there is no flooding, but Ghanaians deserve to know what the plan is," he stated.

In fact, appearing in the media to speak nonsense is provoking Ghanaians more than when you hide your ignorance. Akufo-Addo was in power for eight years, with his gang of thieves. What did they do? Since the NPP has failed without remedy or plans, you people have been using everything for politics. You think this class-one strategy would bring the NPP back to power? Nonsense!
