Social News Awards from ‘Awardpreneurs?’: NDC activist slams ministers
MON, 08 JUN 2026

Communication and Public Relations professional and an activist of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Nii Amarh Amarteifio has lashed out at ministers and other appointees of the current Government for accepting awards from a questionable awards scheme, especially at a time Accra is faced with massive destructive floods.

Mr Amarteifio wondered how receiving an award from a less-than-credible scheme demonstrates that the ministers are truly serving the country.

Yesterday, several Ministers and other appointees of President John Mahama received various awards at the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours held in Accra on Saturday. But Mr Amarteifio thinks it was a worthless venture at the wrong time.

Read his full statement below:
“An “awardpreneur,” Prince McKay, organizes an event to honour Ministers of State who were appointed by the President, the very person ultimately entrusted with assessing your performance and achievements.

Yet, despite severe flooding in parts of the city, some ministers drove through floodwaters to attend and receive awards for “excellence.” Edefu!!!

As a Minister of State, do you need a private award from a questionable platform to demonstrate that you are serving the people of Ghana effectively?

How does receiving such an award contribute to the government’s Reset Agenda and its stated objectives?

What level of due diligence, background checks, and credibility assessment was conducted on the organizers before agreeing to participate and accept these honours?

Public office is not measured by the number of awards received. It is measured by tangible results, accountability, and the impact of policies on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

After all, the position of a Minister of State is one held at the pleasure of the President, a position from which one can be reshuffled or removed at any time.

Ultimately, the true assessment of a minister’s performance should come from the President and the Ghanaian people, not from self-styled award organizers.

You make the “work” difficult sometimes!

Please FOCUS!!!”
