Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 23-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico later this month, blending experience from Europe, the domestic league, and emerging U-23 prospects ahead of the Olympic Games qualifiers.
The squad reflects a broad selection policy, with players drawn from top European clubs, the Ghana Premier League, and youth setups, as Queiroz continues to assess depth within the national team structure.
Among the standouts is midfielder Majeed Ashimeru, who makes a return to the national team fold after spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a muscle injury that affected both his club and international commitments.
Forward Felix Afena-Gyan also earns a call-up, alongside Ibrahim Osman of Birmingham City, as part of a youthful attacking group expected to feature prominently in the encounter in Mexico.
The European contingent further includes Abdul Aziz Issah of Barcelona B and Ebenezer Annan of AS Saint-Étienne, both continuing their development in competitive European environments.
Home-based representation is led by Medeama SC midfielder Salim Adams, who captains the group of domestic-based players. He is joined by Ebenezer Abban of Heart of Lions, Dreams FC’s Ebenezer Adade, and Nations FC skipper Razak Simpson.
From the Dutch top flight, Ajax FC midfielder Paul Reverson also earns a place in the squad, adding further international experience to the group.
Ghana will travel to Mexico for the friendly, scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, as part of preparations aimed at building cohesion and testing squad depth ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
