Ola Girls’ SHS Beat Accra Academy In National Debate Competition

Ola Girls’ Senior High Senior in the Brong Ahafo region was yesterday March 2, 2018 adjudged winners of the 21st National Debate Competition for Senior High Schools.

The debate which came off at the campus of the Accra Girls Senior High School in Accra was on the Topic “Attitudes will put Ghana beyond Aid”.

Whilst Accra Academy represented the southern zone, that is, Greater Accra, Central, Volta, Western and Eastern regions, Ola Girls’ SHS represented the northern zone made up Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.

The gallant girls from the Asutifi North District put up a very spirited performance to beat their competitors, the boys from Accra Academy in a contest that was keenly contested and very close.

The young and brilliant ladies from Kenyasi mesmerized the judges and audience with their unique style and also demonstrated great passion throughout the competition.

At the end of the contest, Ola Girls’ who were runners-up in 2017 got 80 percent to beat Accra Academy with 79.6 percent.

For their exploits, Ola Girls’ SHS took home four laptops, a desktop computer, certificates and an undisclosed amount.

This is the second time in three years a school from the Brong Ahafo region has won the National Debate Competition as in 2016, Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS also won it.
