The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Tuesday unveiled a giant statue in his honour erected to mark his 17 years on the golden stool.
Standing majestically inside the Airport roundabout, the about 15-feet-tall statue faces the Manhyia Palace.
After a thanksgiving service, the Asantehene joined by his wife Lady Julia and children, unveiled the statue amidst loud cheers. He called on all to join hands in developing Asanteman.

The statue was financed by a donation from advertising company DDP and was constructed with the technical support of the Urban Roads division of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
City Mayor Kojo Bonsu said the gesture was to show appreciation for Otumfuo's numerous initiatives towards uplifting the name of the Asante kingdom and Ghana in general.
