The Minority Caucus in Parliament has extended goodwill to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
More than 620,000 candidates from 20,395 schools across the country are currently writing the examination, which began on Monday, May 4.
A total of 620,141 candidates; comprising 304,349 boys and 315,792 girls, are taking part in the nationwide assessment.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Minority Caucus Committee on Education encouraged candidates to draw strength from their journey.
“You have journeyed through years of rigorous study, late-night revisions and unwavering determination to reach this defining milestone. Today, we celebrate your resilience and urge you to approach each paper with the same spirit that has carried you this far,” the statement read in part.
The Minority also acknowledged the role of parents, teachers and guardians in supporting the candidates throughout their academic journey.
It added that the examination period should be seen not only as an academic test but also as a step toward national development.
“The Free SHS and Free TVET awaits you all. This transformative policy opens the doors to quality Senior High education, empowering you to chase your dreams and contribute to Ghana's progress,” it stated.
The Caucus further encouraged candidates to remain prayerful, manage their time well and rely on their preparation as they continue the examination.
