I must say that Ambassador Sharon Bar-li is really sorry that she could not be here with you in person but she says to inform you that she is very much here with us in spirit
Mr. Chairman
Invited guests
Parents, Teachers and pupils of Sunbeam School
Ladies and gentlemen,
Shalom!
Please accept my apologies for not being able to be here with you today in person, but I am definitely here with you today in spirit. I am very excited to be associated with the celebration of your silver jubilee. Having visited the facilities of Sunbeam school and getting to know Mr. and Mrs. Opare, I am proud of this school and the successes it has chalked so far. 25 years of giving quality educational opportunity and experience transforms and empowers students to reach their potential can only be celebrated.
Ladies and gentlemen, today's celebration brings three basic truths to mind.
The first is victory: victory for Sunbeam School and a victory that reminds us of our very humble beginnings. Over the years, founders of this school have been driven by a commitment to a greater good and the conviction that if every child were given an equal educational opportunity in an enabling environment, then they will excel wherever they find themselves.
The commitment to seeing this become a reality is incessant. Let me, at this point say 'ayekoo' to Mr. and Mrs. Opare for being relentless in bringing this vision to life. The investment of your time, resources and knowledge over the years is what we are all witnessing here today. We would not be here today if you had discarded that dream and not work your hearts out to see it become a reality. Congratulations!
Today's celebration, again, calls for vigilance. Our victory, both in the past and present, is no guarantee of our victory tomorrow. We cannot afford to lower the standards that we have set for ourselves as an institution. We cannot be complacent. It is important that you continue to deliver on your promise of providing quality education and teaching and remain relevant.
Finally, the celebration calls for vision. You have achieved a lot, but there is more to achieve. The greater challenge is ahead of you. You need to be determined, devoted and disciplined in order to reach the timeless vision of this school. Let's step and grow deeper, aim higher and serve better until we become the school that we intend it to be.
To my dear graduands, let me congratulate all of you for your hard work all these years.
You must indeed be proud of yourselves and bear in mind that you have been given a solid foundation to build on. As you walk out of the four wall of this school, be confident, be critical thinkers, do not be afraid to ask questions, read wide. The habit of taking books to read only when one has examinations should not be your habit. Be creative and do not settle for mediocrity.
Being an Israeli, coming from the 'Start-Up Nation', nation most identified with innovation and entrepreneurship, high-tech and advanced agriculture and medicine, I know to appreciate the spirit of nurturing excellence. Therefore I call upon you to choose to excel wherever you find yourself. Go all out and make things happen. Be risk takers, and keep challenging what is already known, aspiring to reach new frontiers, in whatever your occupation will be. The great entrepreneurs, dreamers and risk takers you see, like Mr. and Mrs. Opare did not fold their hangs and waiting for things to happen. They made things happen.
I congratulate you and your parents and families once again, and wish you all the very best in your endeavors because I trust that you will build on the solid foundation you have been given.
Thank you and happy anniversary.
