The 2012 Ghanaian elections if not the worst are among the worst in Africa in contemporary times. Whilst many observers claim it was free and fair, there is enough attestation to the massive rigging, irregularities and deliberate sabotage during the elections. The much touted democratic process is a farce and an insult to the international community.
The process of identification of variables and variable control is the most important process thinking skill that an avid person or scholar or politician must seek to develop. In order to design any investigational investigations we must be able to determine, discriminate and manipulate dependent and independent variables.
This skill is necessary in comprehending time and concurrent relationships.
Probabilistic reasoning allows the intellectual/politician to understand the need for repeated testing in investigations as well as the use of typical collected information from duplicated experiments through the use of laid down procedures.
To this end, the NDC failed to realize that nothing is impossible if there is a resolve to pursue. The NDC had overlooked the person they were dealing with. A shrewd and astute politician and a lawyer of no mean standing.
To identify and verify the relationships between variables in solving problems, we must have correlational reasoning which the NDC lacked in this instance. To interpret logical thinking and objectivity from displacement versus point in time, the politician must be able to determine the relationships between inconstant and capricious in nature or character from collected information.
Definitely it is a test of logical thinking and objectivity in Ghana's political culture involving Nana Addo/NPP and John Mahama/NDC in 2012 election.
Countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Niger and Mauritania conducted better elections than prevails now in Ghana, if even there were any hiccups I believe it was manageable. John Mahama and his NDC planned the monkey business of election rigging and Afari Gyan and his bunch of collaborators executed it.
Why must the world believe the AU Observer Mission headed by President Obasanjo who superintended a similar election in Nigeria to force a decision of fraud on the people of Nigeria? It is on record that Obasanjo told the whole world that the election was a do or die affair for him. The same kind fraud can be said of Ghana's elections of which he as the leader of the group sanctioned as been free and fair.
John Mahama had pleaded that he be given our mandate at the expense of credible elections. It is known fact now, that the incumbent with the connivance of Afari Gyan has subverted the will of the people, massaging figures to favour John Mahama and the NDC Party.
The irony of the matter is the blatant hypocrisy of the so-called advanced democracies. They are quick to support surrogates and will do everything to undermine legitimate concerns.
They are a shame to their own senses. I believe they would have contested such rigging in the courts of law. Why are they trying to stifle initiative for the people to seek redress for grievances? Why should they force upon us, what is hurtful and fraudulent?
It is an absurdity to hear the Americans and their allies supporting what was wrong yesterday. Think about what happened in the Ivory Coast. Laurent Gbagbo was hamstrung for not using laid down procedures and was seen as not credit worthy.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the NPP are following the procedure and they are been branded as lawless people. A need for logical thinking and objectivity in Ghana's political culture makes Akufo Addo a better 'Statesman” than the President, John Mahama.
These so-called developed countries must give us a break. Some of their actions and decisions smack logic. They must stop their support for any illegitimacy. It is an affront to the principles they espouse.
When I hear people make reference that Obama has spoken so all must hail him, I ask who is Obama and what knowledge has he to be quoted as an authority?
Every Ghanaian knows that John Mahama/NDC desperation to remain in power, and had gone about saying that the Constitution grants two (2) term tenure in Office, which is not the truth. It must be noted that it is not Nana Addo who is trying to undermine the Constitution but John Mahama. It is Mahama's obsession to be President that saw late John Evans Atta Mills demise.
The truth about the matter is that the John Mahama/NDC has an insipid revulsion for Akufo Addo. The reasons are because they realize he has the disposition and demeanor to demand accountability for their past misdeeds, if he takes over from him because of the crimes against Ghana they have committed.
The monumental corruption, such Woyomization, the CP and others to mention a few, disrepair of services and the abuse from the State Security is unparalleled in the history of Ghana. To cover up themselves from prosecution, they have connived with Afari Gyan to rig the elections and to short change the mandate of the people and impose a leadership from fraud on many Ghanaians.
Nana Addo Dankwa and the NPP in their usual values has resorted to due process and recognizing discipline in politics and governance, are taking the case of election rigging to the Supreme Court praying the court to review the results and if possible nullify the elections.
The overwhelming proof of rigging that the NPP is presenting and the evidence from the first few witnesses has made most well-meaning observers to think, that it is in the interest of all that “an audit” of the results be done to avert any doubt.
I want to predict that this is a test case for the Country's Supreme Court on the way forward and on our democratic credentials. Their venerable suppositions will prove that Ghana has come of age. If there is a need for the elections to be nullified and fresh elections ordered by the courts it must be done.
The ruling NDC as expected of those mentored by Mahama and NDC are urging Nana Addo Dankwa to withdraw his case and some of them even advising the courts not to entertain and throw out their case. The NDC under Mills/Mahama was known for contempt of court injunctions. The infamous “there is so many ways of killing a cat” is an attestation to the above statement. Dr. Kwabena Adjei in fact threatened to deal with judges.
As a result of the very good judgment decision of the judge in the Ya-Na regicide case to acquit the accused, deliberately put forward by the National Democratic Congress government, represented by the Attorney-General, as the principal suspects, in an endeavor to scoring cheap political points, in August of 2010.
An angry Dr. Kwabena Adjei put out a carefully implied threat against the Ghanaian judiciary whose membership, the National Chairman and the NDC has over the years fervently laid blame on of unreasonable preconceived notion against their party. With his ensuing fatwa of “There are many ways of killing a cat, cannot escape our attention”.
Is the Judiciary capable of producing such very good result as happened in the Ya-Na case? I think it is possible. I believe no amount of intimidation will encumber the Supreme Court to take right decision.
In the days gone-bye, those of us who clearly recall the blood-spattered track record of the Rawlings-led Provisional National Democratic Congress (P/NDC), was of the opinion that Dr. Adjei must be fully mindful of the fact that far gone were the days when the P/NDC meanly pursued a political ethos of recrimination.
At this decisive moment, it should be hoped, all Ghanaians would put the interests of the nation first.
Any disputes arising from the elections should be resolved through the appropriate judicial mechanisms provided by the constitution.
It is extremely difficult for many to understand the Chairman of the Peace Council. He was quick to admonish the NPP but did not deem it right to caution the media outfits which were banding the figures around. Such approaches have the tendency in casting slur over their credibility.
People aren't surprised because most of these Clerics are in bed with politicians and are corrupt and evil thugs.
The NDC is rallying their henchmen in the society to destroy Nana Addo's case. They are urging Nana Addo and the NPP to desist from the court action which is totally wrong.
The Constitution has in built mechanism for addressing any elections disputes. Why are people trying to subvert such provision? The NPP must refuse and resist all attempts to discard the case. Hassan Ayariga, the leader of the PNC together with other corrupt and decadent hypocrites like Kofi Wayo, and Dr. Clement Apaak have shamefully sold their conscience at a mean price in advocating for a halt in the legal process. They are attempting to sabotage the court case of rigging against their masters in the NDC.
Also are the crafty traditional rulers of Northern Region and Volta Region trying on behalf of the government to dissuade NPP from pursuing the case of rigging in the courts with their so-called congratulatory messages?
People wonder their reason for coming out to support cruel and cunning fraudsters while demoralizing those trying to look for justice. After the failure of politicians and their henchmen traditional rulers to block NPP from pursuing justice, religious leaders are been drafted to complete the job.
The saddest situation is not only the silence of old and young intellectuals in the country, but the fact that some of them write dodgy articles while lurking under the umbrella of false hood to moralize the evil of those in power. Their aim is to be noticed and brought near the power no matter how the power was achieved. Such is our level of self-indulgence.
Intellectuals are supposed to be the social engineers that direct societal aspirations and goals. If their roles are compromised, then that society becomes corrupt and the next stage after that is degeneration.
One could think about how Mills/Mahama/Amissah Arthur four years rule has destroyed the country's cohesion, forced textile industries to be closed, rendered many unemployed through dubious hankering for loans with the World Bank and the IMF. The total destruction of bank facilities and services from the banking sector in the country, hitherto very vibrant!
Insecurity, apathy, poverty, messed up of health, educational, energy and transport services has become part of daily life.
One must admire Nana Addo's ability to think logically and objectively and must be commended. His understanding of what constitute democracy, rule of law, accountability, probity and transparency, believing in laid down procedures is a mark of “great intellectual and a leader.
One wonders why young intellectuals should join the bandwagon of decadence in any guise, instead of standing up to their responsibilities as guardians of societal aspirations and goals. Why should young intellectuals prefer to join those who want to push our nation at all cost towards the political quandary and turn away from the few honest leaders?
