Preparations have picked up towards the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ofori Panin Senior High School (OPASS), Kukurantumi, this month.
For the past months, several events have been held all geared towards the event, which will be held with an anniversary speech and prize-giving day on the school’s parade grounds on November 26.
The old students have equipped the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Unit with over 20 computers, with a pledge to present more to the school to commemorate the anniversary.
As part of the grand celebration, students of the school are expected to undertake a clean-up exercise at the New and Old Tafo markets, the Kukurantumi Market, as well as the Tafo Government Hospital.
A special float will also be held in Tafo and Kukurantumi. A debate, an inter-house singing competition and a symposium on the legacy of Ofori Panin School are all lined up to mark the anniversary.
Special fun games involving the past and current students will be held on Friday, November 25, with a special welcome lantern vigil for the old students the same evening.
The week-long celebration will be climaxed with the inauguration of completed projects, notably the new assembly hall, as well as honouring personalities who have played significant roles in the development of Opass during the speech and prize-giving ceremony.
A special thanksgiving service will be held to round off the celebration that is expected to attract a large number of old students, past tutors and past members of staff.
