The Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, welcomed the newly appointed Western Regional Fire Service Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Class One (ACFO I) Cecil Addo, during a courtesy call at the Base Headquarters in Takoradi as part of the Regional Commander's familiarisation tour.
The visit formed part of ACFO I Addo's engagements with key security institutions in the Western Region following his appointment as the Regional Fire Service Commander.
During the meeting, Air Commodore Yirenkyi underscored the importance of collaboration among security agencies in addressing emergencies and safeguarding lives and property.
He noted that Air Force Base Takoradi and the Ghana National Fire Service share a common responsibility of ensuring safety and emergency preparedness, particularly within critical national installations. He reaffirmed the Base's commitment to supporting the Fire Service whenever required.
Air Commodore Yirenkyi further highlighted the need for continuous engagement between the two institutions through training programmes, emergency response exercises, and fire safety sensitisation activities. According to him, such collaborations would strengthen operational readiness and enhance emergency response capabilities.
ACFO I Cecil Addo, in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a strong working relationship between the Western Regional Fire Service and Air Force Base Takoradi.
He emphasised that effective partnerships among security and emergency response agencies are essential for mitigating risks and ensuring prompt responses to emergencies. He added that his administration would prioritise collaboration and information sharing to improve public safety and emergency management in the region.
The Regional Fire Service Commander also commended the Ghana Air Force for its contribution to national security and assured the Base Commander of the Fire Service's readiness to work closely with the Base on matters relating to fire prevention, emergency response, and disaster management.
