General News Defence Ministry explores strategic partnership with Turkish investors to boost defence industry, environmental restoration

The Ministry of Defence has held discussions with a delegation from Eskim Yatirim Holding to explore strategic investment opportunities and strengthen collaboration in support of Ghana’s defence industry and environmental restoration efforts.

During the meeting on Tuesday in Accra, the Deputy Director General of the Defence Industries Department, Colonel William Nortey, outlined the Defence Industries Holding Company Limited (DIHOC)mandate, key areas of interest, ongoing joint ventures and prospects for collaboration, particularly within the mining sector.

The presentation highlighted DIHOC’s commitment to promoting sustainable investments and partnerships that would contribute to national development while supporting the operational needs of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Minister for Defence, the Acting Judge Advocate General, Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, emphasised that DIHOC was established to strengthen the Ghana Armed Forces’ internally generated funds and complement Government’s efforts to retool and modernise the Armed Forces.

He further disclosed that Government had approved for the Ghana Armed Forces, through DIHOC, to undertake an Environmental Restoration Project aimed at restoring water bodies across the country that have been degraded as a result of illegal mining activities.

According to him, the initiative forms part of broader national efforts to address environmental degradation, protect natural resources and promote sustainable development.

Presenting on behalf of Eskim Yatirim Holdings, Board Member Mr. Seyfetrun Saglam provided an overview of the company’s corporate profile and expressed its strong interest in investing in Ghana.

He noted that the company was keen on exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships that would contribute to economic growth and development.

The discussions provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange ideas on potential areas of cooperation and investment.
