A new restaurant that is expected to boost the fast food industry has been opened at Osu, Oxford Street to offer tasty products and exceptional customer service.
Located in a colourful red and white building, the renowned Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) brand is the first state-of-the-art restaurant in Ghana.
KFC, which is the world's largest restaurant with over 38,000 branches spread in 110 countries, is expanding its presence across the world, particularly Africa.
It is being introduced onto the Ghanaian market by the Mohinani Group, formally known as Poly Group.
Briefing the press before the official opening, Ashok Mohinani, Managing Director Of Mohinani Group said there are plans to open two more KFC restaurants in Accra before the end of the year.
It is expected that 21 restaurants would be rolled out throughout Ghana in the next five years.
KFC, which is an American company has expressed confidence in the growth of the African market and intends to open 1200 restaurants in various parts of the continent by 2014 in addition to efforts to double its revenue to $2 billion.
The growing middle class and improved political stability as well as the increasing economic growth of the African continent have been identified as the main factors that continue to attract multinational companies such as KFC.
With the arrival of KFC, Mr Mohinani was optimistic that the public stands to benefit from a high standard in the fast food industry in terms of the quality of food.
Currently about 60 people including eight expatriates after undergoing between four and six weeks training at South Africa have been employed to work at the new KFC restaurant at Osu.
Though a larger portion of the produce used by the restaurant is imported, Mr Mohinani has stated that the company intends to buy about 85 per cent of its vegetables and other ingredients from the local market.
