JJ Rawlings & Nkrumaists of Ghana's left-wing Politics

Suddenly they are all coming out with their CPP badge on their crest, as they wave Rawlings away like an irritating fly. Rawlings is no more part of the pseudo intellectual, ideological band of left wing political group of Ghana politics. The CPP was after all in power during the NDC, is it not? It's a field day for all these people who rode on the back of JJ Rawlings to power to political power and untold riches. Today they are CPP and Nkrumaists and Rawlings is a monster. Undoubtedly, everybody in politics wants the same thing: the development of his or her country, as pursued by the NDC and CPP I suppose; and so why is Ghana in this parlous wretched state if CPP now claims they were in power during Rawlings 19 year regime, and even back again in power under President Atta Mills?

Rawlings is not my cup of tea and certainly don't want him and wife near the country's leadership forever again, but he made all these people what they are today. He appointed them to top positions of state and gave them free rein to govern the country. His appointments were even better than those of Atta Mills from the same political group, considering their superlative credentials and resume. Most of those who ruled with Rawlings were from the same modern socialist intelligentsia: Kwesi Botchway, Fui/Tsatsu and other Tsikatas, the three greedy Ahwois, Tototbi Quakyi, Ato Dadzie, Akrasi Sarpong, Atta Mills, Obed Asamoah, Ato Austin, Kofi Awoonor, Kpordugbe, Portuphy, Ebow Tawiah, ET Mensah, Atta kesson, EKT Aidoo, Tony Aidoo, Cecilia Johnson, Kwasi Ado, PV Obeng, Owusu Acheampong, BBD Asamoah, Kwasi Adu, Ato Austin, Tweretwie Poku, Nuamah, Addo Aikins, Goosie Tandoh and many more. All these people were well known loud mouthed socialist advocates of Nkrumaism in their student and 'kwahwehwe' days. They have always been non NPP, CPP inspired political apparatchiks. No one beats them in political argument. They are the representatives of the common masses and sworn anti imperialists, anti colonialists, anti-capitalist and anti-western democracy. They were the children of Karl Marx, Nkrumah and Lenin, who idolised Che Guevara, Castro, Gaddafi, China, Romania, and Russia.

They controlled the National union of Ghana Students (NUGS) from 1968 to 1982, and wanted political power outside the two main political groups with octogenarian politicians entrenched in top positions. They never stopped propagating their gospel of Nkrumaism and Socialism and the rest of the Marxist Leninist rhetoric and waged a fierce struggle against the Busia, Acheampong, and Akuffo in unceasing Aluta Continua. Rawlings was supported by the socialist intelligentsia encamped notably in the Universities, who claimed they had superior minds to right the wrongs of right wing, neo imperialists, Domo followers, who overthrew their Osagyefo. They cried out– 'Let the Blood Flow'. The socialist intelligentsia now demonising Jerry Rawlings rallied round and prevailed upon him not to handover power. They shouted "Hand over Power to whom"? When eventually Rawlings handed over power to Dr Hilla Limann and his octogenarian PNP/CPP Government, these socialist intelligentsia regrouped in the University campuses and plotted, gathered intelligence, launched fierce media crusade against the PNP Government until they won political power.

The socialist CPP Nkrumaist intelligentsia ruled with Jerry John Rawlings from 1981 to 2000!

The socialist intelligentsia were very poor men and women with no material possession; largely unsuccessful people and frustrated, and craved for Political Power. They were CPP children who knew how sweet political power is. They always want political power in Ghana to rule the rest of us as they deem fit. And they always get political power through force or persuasion. They have a long chain of sweet mouthed opinion pollsters. Organise! Propaganda! Power to the people! They write and chant and criticise, and so verbose. They have said the same thing over and over again since the struggle of independence. Even when they are building mansions they claim they are for the interest of common man. They are not bothered about bread and butter issues that affect the lives of ordinary people. Talk, talk, ideology, demagogue, big speeches, philosophy, Nkrumaism, socialism, communism, revolution, power to the people, Marxism, Leninism, green book, pelimo, aluta is what we always hear from them.

They do not write, talk or do irrigated agriculture, agro-industrial investment, fishing, unemployment, production and any innovative ideas. They latch onto verses of immorality from their own broken minds and spew them forth like parrots. They were all going no where as they whinged and complained and blamed everybody for their poor wretched lives. The rich and successful were their prime targets, and truly bashed them to pieces, expropriating their private capital and impoverishing them in the name of the revolution. These socialists intelligentsia only had second hand cars and University Bungalows to show for all their too known. Without JJ these people would never have seen the political kingdom that gave them all these riches.

These people want to blame JJRawlings alone for all the ills and wrongs of PNDC. WRONG. All these pseudo intellectual left wing opportunists now coiled at the back of President Atta Mills know the huge fortune they have amassed during their long rule with Rawlings. Before Rawlings, what did these people actually do? What jobs were they doing before Rawlings put them in high positions? Today they own mansions and educate their children in posh fee paying schools and Universities abroad. We all knew them before Rawlings catapulted them into political kingdom. They have come out today to exonerate themselves from the PNDC Regime. Today Rawlings is not fit to lace the boots of the Nkrumaists or CPP as they lash him and his ambitious wife. Ingratitude of the multitude is monstrous, indeed as Shakespeare said.

For 19 years, JJ Rawlings provided them with every opportunity to translate their long held opinions and ideology into reality. Their Nkrumaist/Socialist dogma was not taken from them. They were in a dictatorship and governed the country unchallenged. The PNDC was made up of these same people after Atta Mills now. Same gaping sycophants in charge of the Ministries of Education, Agriculture, Industry, Employment, Health, Defence, Tourism, Trade, Foreign Affairs... The ministries were not manned by military people like Acheampong's Military Government. Rawlings Military Government of 1981 t0 2000 was made up of Civilian Cabinet drawn from the socialist intelligentsia of CPP fame. They administered these Ministries without Legislature, Judiciary and Media to check their gargantuan abuses. Free Dictatorship as they want. Every policy and programme was planned, enacted and implemented by these fine intellectual minds, imbued with their socialist left wing Nkrumaist ideology. They were the same people who sold Kwame Nkrumah's State Enterprises in their Divestiture programme. They formed the National investigations Committee, Public Tribunals, Citizens Vetting Committees. They were all in BNI and turned the Foreign Ministries into an espionage outfit. They care for the people but implemented the cash and carry health care system. They destroyed the country's rich Education system that had catapulted them to the centre of NUGS Politics. They could not construct a metre long of irrigation outlet to boost agriculture. These ex-officio NUGS leaders controlled Ghana's economy for TWO (2) DECADES. The Accra-based Power elite destroyed everyone who did not support them. They provided the foliage of evidence for the Military wing of NDC led by their hero Kojo Tsikata to incarcerate exile or assassinate political enemies, not opponents. The left wing socialists who ruled with JJ Rawlings and now back with venom to siphon the Oil resources, wont ever succeed to exonerate from PNDC. They ruled Ghana on day to day basis, banning free speech and stifling democracy. They disbanded the Judiciary. The murders committed by the military wing of the PNDC were instigated by the pseudo intellectual left wing Nkrumaists.

Together the left-wing political apparatchiks have ruled Ghana as Nkrumah's CPP from 1951 to 1966 (15). They ruled with Kutu Acheampong from 1972 to 1979 (7 years). They supported Rawlings AFRC in June 1979 to October 1979, and ensured their party PNP won the 1979 elections to rule for another 3 years. When the young pseudo intellectual left wing socialist Nkrumaist intelligentsia thought they could not by pass their octogenarian CPP leaders they supported Rawlings to overthrow their 'fathers' and ruled unopposed from 1981 to 2000. 'Aponkye is a goat' is this CPP/PNDC conundrum. The same bedfellows in separate groupings but united in common act: lazy, talkative, incompetence, murder, corruption, detention without trial, bribery, exile, confiscation of assets of individuals, selling state properties, stealing state resources. It's shocking the same group of people have ruled and ruined this country for so long. They come in batches but the same value!

Otherwise why is Ghana so poor after all these years of Nkrumaism? Rawlings might not be Nkrumaist but ruled with the best of Nkrumaists from 1981 to 2000. What are their achievements? The same people won the election of 2008. What can they do for mother Ghana? When will they stop their unceasing political semantic and rhetoric and help poor people in grave difficulties? These people have worried many Ghanaians sending the poor and rich to their graves. When will all these socialist intellectuals ever do something concrete for Ghana instead of empty political speeches?

Say it loud! J J Rawlings made these people what they are today. The failings of PNDC regime won't fall on the shoulders of J J and his greedy wife alone. The CPP Nkrumaists, left wing intellectuals are culpable. They have another opportunity to correct their ills in the shadows of President Atta Mills, or go and never come back again to make us suffer!
