Denu Chicago Basic School is set to receive a major upgrade in sanitation as the Ras Muta Foundation and Nugoryiyi Foundation prepare to cut sod for a new four-unit modern toilet facility.
The sod-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. on the school premises. It will mark the official commencement of construction on a project organizers say is long overdue.
According to the foundations, the facility is expected to significantly improve hygiene standards and enhance the overall learning environment for both pupils and staff. School authorities have cited inadequate sanitation as a persistent challenge affecting attendance and wellbeing.
Once completed, the four-unit toilet block will address longstanding infrastructure gaps at the school. Officials say it will promote healthy practices and reduce the health risks associated with poor sanitation in the school community.
The initiative forms part of a broader commitment by Ras Muta Foundation and Nugoryiyi Foundation to education and community development in Denu. Both organizations say they are focused on projects that create direct impact for children and families.
Stakeholders anticipate that the new facility will provide a safer, healthier, and more dignified environment for learners. They believe this will contribute positively to both academic performance and social development at the school.
Members of the public, parents, and education stakeholders have been invited to attend the ceremony and support the initiative. Organizers say community participation is key to ensuring the project’s success and sustainability.
The project is expected to be completed within the 2026 academic calendar and will serve current and future generations of students at Denu Chicago Basic School.
