The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Chiana–Paga Constituency has commenced vetting aspirants seeking various constituency executive positions ahead of its internal elections.
The exercise forms part of the party’s democratic processes aimed at selecting leaders to steer its affairs at the constituency level and strengthen its grassroots structures for future electoral contests.
Among the aspirants vetted was Madam Comfort Asuliwono, who is contesting for the position of Constituency Women Organizer.
Speaking to the media after her vetting, Madam Asuliwono expressed confidence in her ability to lead the women’s wing of the party, citing her experience and unwavering commitment to the growth of the NPP.
She acknowledged that although she had previously served the party, she was unsuccessful in an earlier election. According to her, that setback offered valuable lessons that have better prepared her for leadership.
“I have served this party before, and although I was not successful due to certain circumstances, I learned important lessons from that experience. This time, if delegates entrust me with the responsibility, I will work tirelessly to unite our women, strengthen the party at the grassroots, and contribute significantly to our victory in the 2028 general election,” she said.
Madam Asuliwono emphasized that the NPP remains optimistic about winning the Chiana–Paga parliamentary seat and performing strongly in the 2028 general elections.
“The NPP is confident of winning the Chiana–Paga Constituency and the 2028 general election. We have capable people, committed members, and the determination to reorganize the party for victory.”
She further appealed to party supporters to remain loyal, united, and focused on the common objective of returning the NPP to power.
“I appeal to all our members and supporters to stay committed and united. Internal elections will come and go, but our ultimate goal is to build a stronger party that can win in 2028.”
Also speaking after the vetting was Hon. Aniaka Hillary, the Constituency IT Coordinator, who is contesting for the position of Constituency Organizer. He highlighted his long-standing service to the NPP, noting that he has actively served the party since 2010 in various capacities.
Mr. Hillary stated that his political journey has taken him from the polling station level to contesting as an assembly member, and now serving as Constituency IT Coordinator — experience he believes has adequately prepared him for the Organizer role.
“I have served the NPP faithfully since 2010 at different levels — from the polling station to the constituency. My experience and dedication have prepared me for this responsibility.”
He expressed confidence in his chances of winning, saying he enjoys broad support among party members who believe he has the capacity to energize and reorganize the constituency.
“Among the aspirants contesting for the Organizer position, I believe I stand in a strong position. Many party members have encouraged me to contest because they believe I have the capacity to reorganize and strengthen the constituency,” he stated.
Mr. Hillary assured delegates that, if elected, he would work tirelessly to mobilize members, deepen grassroots engagement, and ensure effective coordination of party activities ahead of the next general election.
“If given the mandate, I will continue to serve with commitment, dedication, and humility. My focus will be on unity, hard work, and building strong party structures that will deliver victory for the NPP.”
The vetting exercise forms part of the NPP’s preparations for its constituency executive elections, which are expected to produce leaders who will coordinate party activities, strengthen grassroots mobilization, and position the party for the 2028 general elections.
Party executives have urged all aspirants and supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and maintain unity before, during, and after the elections, stressing that cohesion will be essential to achieving electoral success.
