The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has issued a flood alert for parts of Accra, Tema and Kasoa following flooding recorded in the affected areas.

The agency advised residents and commuters to avoid flood-prone communities and low-lying areas as heavy rains continue to affect parts of the Greater Accra Region and its surrounding areas.

The alert, issued at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29, urged the public to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

NADMO advised motorists and pedestrians not to attempt to drive or walk through flooded roads, noting that such actions could put lives at risk.

The organisation also called on residents in affected areas to move to higher ground immediately if water levels begin to rise around their homes.

Children and the elderly, according to the agency, should be kept away from drains, waterways and flooded areas to prevent accidents.

The agency further urged members of the public to promptly report stranded persons and emergencies to its emergency lines or the national emergency number 112.

The latest alert comes amid recurring flooding incidents in parts of Accra and surrounding communities during the rainy season, with low-lying areas often experiencing disruptions to movement and property damage.
