Former Ho Central Constituency Deputy Youth Organiser Evans Kwami Buami and incumbent Constituency Communication Officer James Beloved Geh have pledged to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and rebuild the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ho Central Constituency after picking nomination forms to contest in the party's upcoming constituency executive elections.

The two aspirants, who picked their nomination forms at the NPP Volta Regional Office, expressed confidence that with committed leadership and effective coordination, the party could recover from its 2024 electoral defeat and position itself for victory in the 2028 general elections.

Mr. Buami, who is seeking election as Second Vice Chairman, said he was returning to active party leadership after stepping aside for some time because he believes his experience can help reunite and strengthen the constituency.

He recounted his journey through the party's ranks, beginning as a polling station executive for two terms at Klefe Ayingbe before serving as an Electoral Area Coordinator for another two terms. He later became the Ho Central Deputy Youth Organiser from 2018 to 2022.

According to him, his previous role saw the party successfully mobilise young people across tertiary institutions within the constituency, contributing significantly to an increase in the party's votes during the 2020 general election.

"I started from scratch as a grassroots member," he said, adding that the experience gained over the years had prepared him to take on greater responsibility within the constituency.

Mr. Buami said his vision extends beyond student mobilisation. He intends to work with farmers, traders and artisans by helping them access government interventions, including soft loans and business support schemes, to improve their economic activities.

He explained that empowering grassroots members economically would strengthen the party's support base and encourage greater commitment to its activities. He also pledged to ensure that qualified party members benefited from government projects and opportunities whenever available.

The Second Vice Chairman aspirant stressed that rebuilding the party would require unity and effective coordination among all constituency executives, including the chairman, youth organiser, women organiser and other officers.

He admitted that the party was currently facing internal challenges but maintained that the right leadership could restore confidence among members and prepare the constituency for electoral success.

Appealing to delegates, Mr. Buami urged them to support his vision, saying he was determined to help rebuild the party and contribute towards returning the NPP to power in 2028.

Meanwhile, incumbent Constituency Communication Officer James Beloved Geh is seeking to retain his position following constitutional amendments that converted the office from an appointed to an elected position.

Mr Geh said he had dedicated his tenure to promoting the achievements and policies of the party through radio and television discussions and was prepared to do even more if elected.

He announced plans to intensify grassroots communication by organising programmes at community centres across the constituency to take the party's message directly to residents.

According to him, every electoral area, village and community should become a platform for communicating the party's ideals and reconnecting with supporters ahead of the next general election.

"We want people to see the party. We want the party to be visible at all levels," he said, adding that the communication strategy would combine community engagement with media appearances to strengthen public confidence in the NPP.

Mr. Geh acknowledged that the contest reflected the democratic values of the party and welcomed competition for the position. However, he expressed confidence that delegates would reward his performance with another mandate.

Supporting the two aspirants during the nomination exercise, the Electoral Area Chairman for Ziavi, Ernest Nuworse, popularly known as Fo Tettey, described them as hardworking young leaders who had consistently demonstrated commitment to the party's growth.

He said Mr. Geh had effectively projected the party's message while Mr. Buami had played a key role in mobilising the youth, including students, teachers and other groups within the constituency.

According to Mr. Nuworse, the NPP's poor showing in the 2024 elections highlighted the need for a new direction and renewed grassroots leadership.

Also present was Wusu Electoral Area Coordinator Frank Nunyuie also popularly called Pablo to support the team of aspiring executives seeking to lead the constituency. He called on polling station executives to support what he described as a new generation of leaders committed to restoring confidence in the party.

Mr. Nunyuie expressed optimism that a leadership team comprising Evans Buami, James Geh and other aspirants would build a stronger constituency and ensure that opportunities reached grassroots members.

As the Ho Central Constituency executive elections are expected to take place on 11th July 2026 and delegates elect new officers to steer the affairs of the party and begin preparations for the 2028 general elections, the team indicated that with the support from the people of Klefe, Ziavi and other Electoral Areas they are positive they will win the upcoming elections with an outstanding victory.

The 2028 election defeat would shock the NPP more than what happened to you in 2024. Are you going to give Ghanaians cocaine or drugs to help them vote for you, or are you counting on that electoral fraudster Jean Mensa? None of your plans would work. Ghana has come far; the people don't need the NPP to take them back to the time before independence. In any serious country, the NPP will be banned.
