NPP Free-for-all fight at NPP NEC meeting as supporters clash over Ken Must Go protest
THU, 25 JUN 2026

Clashes broke out among supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, June 25, during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, as internal tensions within the party surfaced publicly.

The confrontation involved rival groups of supporters, with some chanting “Ken Must Go,” in apparent reference to former Assin Central MP and former presidential aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong.

The aggrieved supporters, many of them wearing red headbands, later confronted Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and attempted to prevent his vehicle from leaving the meeting venue.

The situation escalated into a scuffle as some individuals physically engaged supporters who had gathered around the Minority Leader’s vehicle at the Alisa Hotel, where the meeting was held.

Footage circulating on social media showed groups of supporters chanting and venting their frustration, although no formal reason was immediately provided for the protest.

The unrest is widely believed to be connected to recent comments made by Kennedy Agyapong about the party’s leadership and performance.

The former presidential aspirant had criticised the NPP over what he described as the failure to operationalise the Afari Military Hospital. His remarks followed claims that members of the Minority Caucus were denied access to the facility during a visit.

The NEC meeting was convened as part of ongoing internal discussions aimed at reviewing party affairs and preparing for future political engagements.
