The Research and Elections Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ho Central Constituency, Richard Innocent Dzimabi-Nubo, popularly known as Sir John, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Youth Organizer, pledging to revitalise youth engagement programmes and leverage his extensive grassroots experience to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to the media after his vetting on Thursday, June 25, 2026, Mr. Dzimabi-Nubo said his ambition is to build upon the achievements of his predecessor while introducing new initiatives aimed at expanding the party's appeal among young people.

“It doesn’t mean my predecessor didn’t do well. He took things up to a certain point. My goal is to build on his work and take it higher,” he said.

He stressed the importance of the youth to the future of the NPP, noting that sustained engagement and political education among young people are critical to the party's long-term success.

“Let me assure you, the youth are the future of our party. The youth must understand the structure of the NPP. As I said, we are catching them young. We are taking the gospel of the NPP to them even at the basic level,” he stated.

Drawing on findings from his work as Research and Elections Director, Mr. Dzimabi-Nubo observed that several youth-oriented activities on tertiary campuses had become inactive and required urgent attention.

“From my research, I have observed that our testing and teaching activities have become dormant on our campuses,” he said.

To address the challenge, he announced plans to revive campus-based programmes and introduce a new initiative known as “Youth Connect.”

“That is why I am stepping forward to revive these activities on all campuses and introduce what we call Youth Connect. Under this programme, we will organise youth activities on a weekly and quarterly basis across the constituency to attract more young people to the party,” he explained.

Mr. Dzimabi-Nubo also highlighted what he described as a knowledge gap among polling station youth organisers, arguing that many office holders are not adequately familiar with their responsibilities.

“I want our polling station youth organisers to understand their roles. Some of them do not know what the position entails. I plan to establish an educational structure to train them on their responsibilities. Once they understand what they are supposed to do, the NPP will grow its numbers,” he said.

According to him, his campaign is rooted in research and strategic planning.

“It is all about having a workable plan. I have sat down, conducted my research as the constituency research officer, and identified some of the factors preventing young people from being attracted to the NPP. I believe I have solutions to those challenges,” he noted.

While declining to reveal the full details of his strategy, he assured delegates that a comprehensive action plan would be unveiled if elected.

“What are those solutions? I will not reveal everything now. When I get the nod, you will see the full work plan I have for NPP youth in the constituency,” he added.

Making a case for his candidacy, Mr. Dzimabi-Nubo said his extensive experience within the party gives him an advantage over his competitors.

“The two other candidates are party members and they qualify to contest. However, I am bringing experience to the table. The 2028 elections are not a time for experimentation. We need experienced people on board,” he argued.

He recounted his political journey, noting that he had served in various capacities at the polling station level before moving to the constituency executive level.

“In my political journey, I have served as a polling station youth organiser, organiser, secretary, and chairman before becoming the constituency Research and Elections Officer. That experience is my strength,” he said.

Mr. Dzimabi-Nubo appealed to delegates to consider experience and proven commitment when casting their votes.

“Delegates of Ho Central, we should not discard experience and replace it with inexperience. The 2028 elections require tested and committed leadership. All the candidates are qualified, but experience remains a key asset in building a stronger party,” he stated.
