President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed the appointment of three Deputy Comptrollers-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to strengthen the leadership of the security institution.
The officers, who had previously served in acting capacities, have now been elevated to their substantive ranks following approval by the President.
The appointments were made on the recommendation of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service and with the advice of the Public Services Commission.
The newly confirmed officers are Deputy Comptroller-General Evelyn Lolonyo Lotsu, Deputy Comptroller-General Faisal Disu and Deputy Comptroller-General Philip Peter Andoh.
"His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, has approved the confirmation of three Deputy Comptrollers-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), elevating them from acting status to their substantive ranks," a statement dated June 24, read in part.
Deputy Comptroller-General Lotsu will head the Finance and Administration Directorate, while Deputy Comptroller-General Disu takes charge of the Command Post and Operations Directorate.
Deputy Comptroller-General Andoh has been assigned to oversee the Legal, Research and Monitoring Directorate.
According to the statement, the appointments recognise the officers' leadership qualities, professionalism and commitment to duty.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, congratulated the newly appointed officers and expressed confidence in their ability to advance the objectives of the Service.
"He lauds their professionalism and commitment and expresses confidence that, in their substantive roles, they will continue to strengthen the Service, promote good governance, and advance the nation's security and development," the statement quoted him as saying.
The Comptroller-General also assured the officers of the full support of the management of the Service as they assume their new responsibilities.
