Business owners in Northern Region to benefit from free registration clinic

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) is set to host a three-day Business Registration and Sensitisation Clinic in Savelugu, offering entrepreneurs and business owners the opportunity to register their businesses on the spot, renew existing registrations, and access free advisory services.

The clinic, scheduled for 16th to 18th June 2026, will take place at the Community Centre (Canteen) in Savelugu, running daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The initiative aims to simplify the registration process and bring critical business support services directly to the doorsteps of business owners in the Northern Region.

According to the ORC, this outreach forms part of efforts to reduce the bureaucratic hurdles that often discourage small and medium-sized enterprises from formalising their operations.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for business owners to comply with registration requirements. Many entrepreneurs in the regions find it difficult to travel to Accra or regional capitals for these services. By taking the clinic to Savelugu, we are removing that barrier and ensuring that businesses in the north can operate legally and access the benefits that come with formal registration," it said.

The clinic will provide on-the-spot registration services, allowing participants to complete the entire process without the need for multiple visits to government offices. Business owners seeking to renew their registrations are required to bring a copy of their existing business registration certificate to facilitate the process.

For new registrations, applicants are to come along with their Ghana Card, Tax Identification Number (TIN), GPS address, residential and business address, as well as their proposed business name. The ORC has assured that officials will be available to guide applicants through each step, ensuring that all documentation is correctly completed.

"This is more than just registration; we are providing free business advisory services to help entrepreneurs understand their obligations, including tax compliance and post-registration requirements. Knowledge is just as important as the certificate itself," it noted.

The clinic is expected to attract a wide cross-section of business owners, from petty traders to established enterprises, all seeking to formalise their operations and take advantage of government procurement opportunities, access to credit, and other benefits that come with a registered business.

The ORC has encouraged all business owners in the Northern Region and surrounding areas to take advantage of the clinic, noting that similar exercises in other regions have recorded high turnout and positive feedback.
