The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned maintenance works on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, which will lead to temporary power interruptions in parts of the Accra East, Ashanti, Volta, and Western Regions.
According to the power distributor, the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and enhance the reliability and stability of electricity supply across the country.
In a public notice, ECG stated that the maintenance works will begin at 9:00 am, with the duration of outages varying from one region to another.
In the Accra East Region, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas expected to be affected include Tseaddo Goil Filling Station, Tseaddo Royal Mart, West Trassaco, Trassaco Phase 2, Salem Estates, parts of School Junction, and surrounding communities.
In the Ashanti Region, several communities will experience outages between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The affected areas include Kwadaso Nsoum, Prempeh College, Brigade Complex, Adoato Adomanu, Akropong, Nyankyerenease, Bokankye, Kokosu, Kegasi Estate, Esaase, Daba, Owabi Ghana Water, Tabre, Akwabuak, Ntensere, Mfensi, Asakraka, Koforidua, Kontomire, Dwenenh, and Asempanaye.
Additional maintenance works in the region will also affect Kumawu, Oyoko, Banko, Akrofonso, Asamang, Atwea, Bonwire, Amanpe, Adanwomase, Baman, and nearby communities.
Residents in parts of the Volta Region will experience a six-hour outage from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Communities expected to be affected include Agbakope, Agbagorme, Tordzinu, Akatsi, and surrounding areas.
In the Western Region, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The affected areas include New Amanful, Funko, Beach Road, Apowa, Kejebir, Norpalm, Mphor, Ayiem, Dominase, Adum Banso, Benso, Adjoa, Dupaul, Apremdo, Whindo, Kwesimintsim, Assakae, Mpatado, Adientem, Accra Town, Odumase, Mile 10, Nsadweso, Asuminam, Old Subre, New Subre, Akosombo, Akyempim, Appiahsuman, and Koduakum.
ECG apologised for the inconvenience the maintenance works may cause and assured customers that electricity supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the exercise.
The company also disclosed that it is addressing a number of unplanned outages in parts of the country.
In the Accra West Region, a punctured cable at Weija has disrupted power supply to New Bortianor, Redtop, Ajasco, Finney Hospital, Sunday Down, Container, and nearby areas.
In the Western Region, a broken high-tension pole at Odifour has affected electricity supply to Asemkrom, Jema, Boinso, Omanpe, Kwahu, Atokosue, Nkwanta, Enchi Township, Aleobo, Nyankamam, Akontonbra, New and Old Yakasi, Adjakaa, Achimfo, and Abokyia.
Meanwhile, a cable fault in the Volta Region has left parts of Abeliakope, from the Ecobank area to the border, without power.
ECG said its engineers have been deployed to the affected locations and are working to restore electricity supply to customers as quickly as possible.
