The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has extended well wishes to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
A total of 620,141 candidates from 20,395 schools across the country began writing the exams today, Monday, May 4.
The JHS 3 students, comprising 304,349 boys and 315,792 girls, are expected to take part in the examination at centres nationwide.
In a statement shared via social media and sighted by ModernGhana News, Mr Asiedu Nketiah, a former teacher, acknowledged that the moment requires adequate preparation.
He urged the students to approach each paper with confidence and give their best to come out with flying colours.
“Having worked as a teacher, I understand the discipline and preparation that moments like this require.
“To all candidates writing the BECE, approach each paper with a calm mind and confidence in what you have learned. Give your best. That is what matters most. Wishing you success,” his post reads.
Meanwhile, the BECE serves as a transition point for candidates seeking placement into senior high schools and technical institutions under the country’s education system.
Officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES) have assured that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and credible examination process.
