A chilling account has emerged following the confirmation of the death of Theophilus Ashitey, who was reported missing after attending a meeting linked to an online car sale.
Police have since arrested his friend, Wisdom Tetteh, who is alleged to have confessed to the crime. According to investigators, the suspect reportedly admitted to killing Ashitey and later burning his body near the University of Ghana.
A message circulating online, believed to detail the suspect’s confession, reads:
According to Wisdom’s own confession, he killed Theo on Monday. He said he kept hitting Theo’s head on the ground and hit him with a metal repeatedly until Theo became unconscious and weak. Even after that, when he first left the house, Theo was still alive but badly injured. Wisdom then drove Theo’s car out and later returned home. By the time he came back, Theo was no longer breathing… he was stiff and cold… he was lifeless.Instead of seeking help, he placed Theo’s dead body in the back seat of the car like a passenger and drove around with him. He went to park at Mensah-Sarbah in Legon just to waste time and avoid suspicion.
Later, on 7th April 2026, around midnight, he drove to the GIMPA road, where he tied Theo up and set both Theo’s body and the car on fire.
This is the painful and heartbreaking way Wisdom ended Theo’s life. There is more to this story, and we will continue to update the class as more information comes out.
Authorities say the incident began when Theophilus Ashitey left home for what was believed to be a legitimate car transaction arranged online. When he failed to return, concerns were raised, leading to investigations that eventually pointed to his close associate.
The alleged confession has shocked many, particularly given the disturbing details surrounding the crime and attempts to conceal it. Police are continuing their investigations and are expected to provide further updates as the case develops.
