Anti-LGBTQ Bill: Ensure full rollout within a year of passage — Ntim Fordjour to AG

A sponsor of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on the Attorney General to ensure that clear regulations are developed within 12 months of the bill being passed into law to guide its enforcement.

His remarks come after concerns were raised by members of Parliament's Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee that some ministers, after sponsoring and securing passage of bills, often delay advancing the necessary legislative instruments for their implementation.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on Friday, April 24, the Assin South MP stressed the importance of ensuring that the proposed legislation is fully operationalised once it receives presidential assent.

He noted that close collaboration between the bill's sponsors and relevant sector ministries would be critical to its effective rollout.

“It is expected that with close collaboration between the sponsors and the relevant ministries, the minister responsible in this context will, as a matter of urgency, take steps as soon as it is assented to by the President. So within one year, we should have the full bill with the necessary implementation strategies to be able to see it running,” he said.
