A leading member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Communication Team has sparked controversy after issuing what he described as a physical threat against officials of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
During an appearance on Hot 93.9FM’s morning show Hot Morning Ride, hosted by Oman Nana, Alhaji Ali Kabe dismissed the NDC’s “resetting agenda” as deceptive political messaging. He argued that the lived experiences of ordinary Ghanaians contradict the government’s optimistic portrayal of the economy.
Expressing frustration with what he called the government’s “false narrative,” Alhaji Kabe—speaking in a tone he later framed as humorous—declared:
“I am ready to slap any NDC member who lies to the public that the economy is booming.”
When the host pressed him to restate his comment for clarity, the outspoken communicator doubled down:
“Yes, I will headbutt any NDC member who does that… they’re only lying to the public.”
The remarks, though delivered jokingly, have raised eyebrows given the tense political climate and the responsibility placed on party communicators to maintain decorum in public discourse.
