Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s 2026 New Patriotic Party flagbearer campaign, has defended the former Assin Central MP’s commitment to the party.
His comments come after Mr. Agyapong, in a recent Net2 TV interview, warned that he would “spill the beans” if provoked by party members.
The warning followed internal backlash over his criticism of the past NPP administration’s handling of the Afari Military Hospital project.
However, speaking on Accra-based JoyNews' The Pulse show on Friday, June 19, Kwarteng noted that the situation is being misread and should instead be used to strengthen internal cohesion and dialogue.
“I will say that Kennedy Agyapong has been and will always be a deeply invested party member that will not do anything untoward to destroy the fortunes of our beautiful party,” he said.
He stressed that the current tensions should not be framed as a breakdown in relations but rather as part of internal party dynamics that require maturity and reconciliation.
“Honesty and fairness should not be seen as an attack on the party, but should be viewed as an opportunity for reflection and proper reconciliation,” he added.
Kwarteng further argued that strong political parties are defined not by the absence of disagreement, but by how effectively they resolve internal disputes without weakening their broader electoral agenda.
According to him, the current atmosphere presents a “window of opportunity” for the NPP to reset internal relations, rebuild trust, and refocus on opposition politics against the governing party.
