Businessman and flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ken Ohene Agyapong has paid glowing tribute to Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, describing the late industrialist as one of the greatest pioneers Ghana has ever produced.
In a heartfelt statement following Apostle Safo’s passing on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Mr. Agyapong said the news came as a personal blow, noting that the Kristo Asafo founder embodied innovation, resilience, and vision.
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a true titan of Ghanaian innovation and a visionary leader. He was one of the greatest industrial pioneers this nation has ever known,” Agyapong wrote.
He recalled his admiration for Kantanka’s groundbreaking work and lamented Ghana’s failure to give the inventor the necessary strategic support to take his innovations global.
“I have always believed profoundly in his work and had hoped our nation could provide the strategic support necessary to propel his inventions onto the global stage. While we may regret past opportunities, the monumental legacy he leaves behind will forever serve as our inspiration,” he stated.
For Agyapong, Apostle Safo’s achievements erased every doubt about the capacity of Ghanaians to lead in science, technology, and industrial growth.
“Apostle Safo's life work proved a powerful truth: that the Ghanaian is capable of achieving anything. He shattered any lingering doubts about our ability to innovate, build and create a self-reliant nation,” he said.
He added that Kantanka’s legacy should serve as a guiding light for future generations determined to drive Ghana’s industrialisation.
“His legacy is a solemn promise that with determination and belief in ourselves, we can and will chart our own path to prosperity. May his revolutionary spirit continue to guide us. Rest in eternal peace,” Agyapong concluded.
