Health Ghana records 7 new Mpox cases, total cases rise to 98
WED, 18 JUN 2025

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed seven new Mpox infections in its latest update released on Sunday, June 16, 2025.

“This brings the total number of confirmed Mpox cases in the country to 98 since the disease was first detected,” the Service stated.

Despite the rise in case numbers, the GHS noted there have been “no new deaths,” keeping the national Mpox death toll at zero. The update also confirmed that “there are no active hospital admissions related to Mpox as of the latest update.”

Mpox—formerly known as monkeypox—is a viral illness primarily transmitted through close contact with infected individuals. While the disease continues to spread in some regions, health officials say the situation remains under control.

The GHS is urging the public to “observe personal hygiene and avoid close physical contact with suspected cases to curb the spread.”

Authorities emphasized their ongoing commitment to surveillance and early detection, adding that they will continue to “closely monitor the situation and provide timely updates to keep the public informed.”
