In a quiet village at the edge of the savannah, the animals often watched the skies for signs of rain. The earth cracked in the dry season, and the rivers ran thin. But when the clouds gathered and the heavens opened, life would stir once more.
High above them all, lived Kweku the Vulture.
Now, Kweku was no ordinary bird. He was wise, or so he claimed. He had seen many seasons come and go, and he often spoke in riddles that confused the younger creatures.
One stormy day, as the rain poured down and soaked the trees, the animals gathered under the baobab tree for shelter. There, perched on a broken branch, sat Kweku with feathers ruffled and wings drooping.
"I will build!" Kweku declared suddenly, shaking off the rain. "Yes, I will build myself a fine nest, strong and dry, high on the rocks. No more shall I suffer like this in the rain!"
The other animals nodded in approval. Even the young goat clapped his hooves together in excitement. "At last, the great vulture will have a home of his own!"
But the rain soon passed, as all rains do. The skies cleared. The sun returned. Then came the Harmattan—the dry, dusty wind that carried the scent of firewood and memory. The land grew brittle once more.
And what did Kweku do?
He spread his massive wings, basked in the golden light, and chuckled to himself.
"Ah," he said, stretching lazily, "it is only a fool who thinks of building when the sun shines and the wind is sweet."
The animals looked at him, puzzled.
"But you said—"
Kweku cut them off with a grin. "When the rain falls, the heart dreams. But when it passes, the wise enjoy the breeze."
And with that, he soared into the sky, leaving behind no nest, no home—just the echo of his laughter in the wind.
From that day on, whenever the rains came, and someone promised to prepare for the future, the elders would nod wisely and say, "Be not like the vulture who promises in the storm but builds in none."
A lesson from the wild:
Don’t wait for crisis to motivate you ,and don’t let comfort steal your discipline. le frog🤣
