President John Dramani Mahama has released the full list of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nominated for the 33 assemblies in the Eastern Region.

The nominations were announced on Tuesday, April 29, by the Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim. They were made in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.

The nominations are, however, subject to approval by the respective assemblies, as required by law.

“H.E. the President, in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) (as amended), has nominated the attached list of persons for appointment to the office of District Chief Executive, pending approval by their assemblies,” the official statement said.

In a letter communicating the nominations to the Local Government Minister, Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Calistus Mahama, wrote: “I write to inform you that in accordance with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017, the President of the Republic has nominated the following individuals as District Chief Executives, subject to approval by the respective District Assemblies.”
